As we enter the first weekend of 2014, it’s time to start tinkering with your phone. This includes CyanogenMod releasing M2 of their CM11 release. For those that don’t know CyanogenMod 11 is based off of Android 4.4 – KitKat. And M2, is their non-monthly, monthly release. And It happens to be their second release for CyanogenMod 11.
At the time of writing this post, CyanogenMod 11 M2 has been queued up for over 65 devices and their bots are hard at work compiling them. So if you don’t see these builds for your device, you may have to wait a few hours to see the builds up on the Download Portal for CyanogenMod 11.
For those that aren’t aware of what CyanogenMod is, it’s an after-market software which you can flash on your Android device, and a few windows devices. Of course, you’ll need to be rooted to be able to flash this ROM onto your device. But It’s available for most devices. Starting with the Nexus family, the OPPO N1, and a ton of Samsung devices. Don’t worry, they also support HTC, LG, Motorola, and others. But Samsung is the most popular.
At the time of writing this, the CM11 M2 snapshot is available for the T-Mobile, Sprint, Metro PCS, and AT&T Galaxy S3’s, the Google Nexus S, Barnes & Noble Nook, Samsung Galaxy S Relay 4G, LG Optimus G, HTC One on T-Mobile, and the Google Nexus 5. There will be plenty more builds popping up later tonight and into tomorrow morning. So if you don’t see your device there, don’t worry too much. CyanogenMod will still be working on the Nightlies for CM11 and pushing those out, but the M snapshots are a more stable version of the nightlies, which are released every month, and the nightlies are well released every night.
How many of you are going to be flashing CyanogenMod 11 M2 on your phone or tablet this evening, or weekend? Let us know in the comments below.
