ZTE has revealed, not long ago, that they plan to sell 60 million smartphones globally by the end of this year. To meet that goal, ZTE is now giving attention to a segment of high-end devices, which were missing from the Chinese manufacturer’s repertoire last year. As a result of that, we see that the company is working hard on premium, high specced devices which comprise the ZTE Nubia series. The ZTE Nubia Z5s was unveiled by ZTE during the Consumer Electronics Show (CES) earlier this month. The device sports a 5 inch 1080 x 1920 Sharp IGZO display, a quad-core 2.3GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon 800 CPU as well as 2GB of RAM and 16GB or 32GB of native storage. The primary camera on the device has a stunning 13 mega pixels (MP), whereas the front facing camera for video calls and the occasional selfie supports a resolution of 5 MP. The device is powered by a 2300 mAh battery.
Apart from the Nubia Z5s, another upcoming ZTE flagship phablet has leaked online thanks to Chinese site cnmo. This one plans to go toe to toe with one of the largest screen phones in the market today – Sony’s Xperia Z Ultra. The elusive ZTE Nubia Z7 sports a huge 6.44 inch screen – which is the exact same size as the Xperia Z Ultra. The leaked photos suggest that the device is almost ready to be announced, however unless there is an official confirmation from ZTE, we would advise you to take our speculation with a pinch of salt.
The ZTE Nubia Z7 is rumored to be powered by the more powerful MSM8974AB variant of Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 800 processor and is clocked at the high speed of 2.3 GHz. Even the Adreno 330 graphics processing unit (GPU) on the Nubia Z7 is overclocked at 550 MHz, as opposed to the normal 450 MHz. This is the same chip that powers two majorly successful devices – the Samsung Galaxy Note 3 and Xiaomi’s Mi3. The ZTE Nubia has a huge internal storage – at 128 GB and runs a tweaked version of Android’s latest iteration, Android 4.4 Kit Kat. If ZTE really aims to grab a larger share of the global smartphone markets, then it has made the right choice with the Nubia Z7 and the Nubia Z5s. What needs to be seen however, is how good (or bad) the sales figures are once the device is finally available for purchase.
