On Thursday, Fitbit confirmed to Slashgearthat the highly anticipated Caller ID functionality that is coming to iOS devices next month will also make it’s way to Android devices soon. But they failed to mention when. However, Slashgear did get to check out the update, which does display a single line containing the phone number of the incoming call and the name of the person calling you, if you have that person in your contacts. While the Pebble allows you to answer or ignore the call, from the Force, you can only see the incoming information. Which is a bit strange, but then again, look at the size of the display on the Fitbit Force, I’d venture to guess that it’d be a bit hard to add an answer or decline button onto the display. There’s a very short video down below that shows how it works.
Additionally, Fitbit is working to get their app compatible with more Android devices. At the time of writing this, it’s compatible with many Samsung, Motorola, HTC, and LG devices, as well as some of Google’s Nexus devices. Fitbit is looking to expand that compatibility really soon. Which is a good thing on their part.
Fitbit also informed us that they are expanding the accessories for its Flex tracker. Instead of colored wristbands, Fitbit will be working with designer Tory Birch to produce a line of wearables that will turn the Flex into a piece of Jewelry.
Some big changes coming out of Fitbit at CES this week. I’m excited for the Force to get the Caller ID functionality, as I’m looking to pick up the Fitbit Force soon. I’m just hoping their definition of “soon” isn’t the same as some of these other companies out here. But we’ll just have to wait and see. How many of you are already using some of Fitbit’s products?
