HTC One On Rogers Could Have KitKat By The End Of The Month

Legions of HTC One fans are all thinking and waiting for the same thing. Most likely at least. And that’s the question of when Kit Kat will show up for their devices. It’s a good question and a wonderful thought to ponder, as many of us have done before with past or previous devices. Supposedly, and this is according to the listing that Rogers Canada has for their variant of the HTC One, the Android 4.4 kit kat update could show up on HTC One devices on their network by January 31st. That’s only one day away as it’s already January 30th, so we won’t have to wait too long to see if this listing has any clout behind it.

This however is coming after some news from HTC America President Jason Mackenzie stating that HTCwould miss it’s initial target datefor the OTA update of Android 4.4 kit kat to the One. When people read this information from Jason’s blog post on the HTC blog, it was certainly a little disheartening, but as word has the missed target date is only going to be off by a couple days. Word from Mackenzie went as follows: “We are currently in the certification phase across all of our carrier partners in North America, and they share our enthusiasm for getting this software in your hands. That said, the software development process does not always follow a linear path and we know today that we will miss our self-imposed target. The good news is that we won’t miss by much as, it shouldn’t be more than one to two weeks to complete each of the carrier versions of the HTC One.”

I guess we’ll just have to wait and see what tomorrow brings, but for those that didn’t catch the listing on Rogers blog about the update schedule, the timing of the post yesterday was at 4pm. Although the update may not show up on time, Mackenzie went on to further state that in light of the missed target date, the company has learned a lot that should help HTC improve on on the timing of future update delivery dates. He ended the blog post with a cheerful “Go Seahawks!” to show his support for the team he clearly wants to win in this year’s Super Bowl match up. If you live in Canada and are on the Rogers network, as soon as tomorrow rolls around be sure to start checking your status bar for update notifications, and feel free to tick the software updates button in the settings menu a few times.
