The Knock-on feature of LG’s latest flagship – the LG G2 – is doing rounds in tech circles as the next big feature you would definitely want on your phone. For the uninitiated, the Knock-on feature allows you to wake up the phone’s screen simply by tapping twice on the screen. The same double tap on the screen then locks the phone (if you have enabled a lock in the settings) and turns off the screen. On first sight, the Knock-on feature seems like a childish gimmick, however in the long run it will definitely protect your phones’ power button from going kaput.
The LG Optimus G Pro is a 5.5 inch phablet, which LG had hoped would give competition to the more popular Galaxy Note series of their competitor Samsung. The device was announced way back in February 2013 and was available for purchase by April the same year. So any news pertaining to updates for this device definitely comes as a surprise. If the details coming in are true, owners of the LG Optimus G Pro would be happy to know that their devices will be getting an update which will bring some software features from the LG G2 over to the older model.
The Knock-on feature is definitely going to come over to the Optimus G Pro but as of yet there is no clarification as to what else would be back ported to the older device. The same source also confirms that LG has designed a QuickWindows case for the Optimus G Pro, which is on similar lines as to that of the LG G2. If the reports are to be believed, the QuickWindows case will provide users with a dedicated interface through the opening on the case, through which routine tasks may be carried out without actually having to open the case. The only negative side to this mostly positive story is the fact that the update and the accessory would be released only in LG’s home base – Korea. There is no indication whether users in the US would benefit from this; however we will keep our hopes alive.
