If you were having trouble deciding which smartphone you might want to upgrade to, you may want to consider which devices connect to LTE. Since the main reason for having a smartphone in the first place is to have web connected capability, you might also want to think about which devices perform the best when attempting to connect to the network and stay connected. Those who barely use their smartphone devices or are largely in part around a WiFi connection the majority of the time, may not find this information as important, but it’s interesting nonetheless.
In a recent report done by Signals Research Group, various different handsets that are enabled with LTE capabilities were tested on a number of different things, with the intended result to see which device tested the best for LTE connectivity and network reliability. Five phones were tested for this series of different network tests, which include two Samsung devices-the GS4 and the Note 2, The HTC One, LG’s G2, and Motorola’s MotoX.
In this series of tests done for each device, Spirent Communications and ETS-Lindgren helped conduct 860 60-second tests, spanned over a timeframe of 14.4 hours to get to the results that were achieved. All tests were done in an anechoic chamber over that time. The point of these tests was to see how well each device held up in network connectivity, and the Moto X came out ahead of every other device. Although the Moto X was tested on a different LTE band than the other four devices, CEO of Signal Research was quick to point out that had the Moto X been tested on the same network band, it wouldn’t have mattered and that he was confident enough that the Moto X would have similar results. This just goes to show that even if you have an LTE capable device, it still can make a difference in which device it is. Do you have a Moto X connected to LTE? If so have you noticed considerable reliability compared to another LTE device on the same network as you?
