Moto G on Boost Mobile For $129.99

Right on the heels of Verizon announcing that starting on January 9, they will carry the Moto G as a prepaid device for $99.99, Boost Mobile announces it on their network as well for $129.99. It will be at select stores on January 14, with a nationwide launch on January 20. Amazon is already offering the Moto G at $179 for the 8GB and $199 for the 16GB model.

Google’s takeover of Motorola is finally paying off and we are starting to see the changes in Motorola’s approach to selling smartphones.  They are trying to be the “General Motors” or “Wal-Mart” of the mobile phone industry – put out a good product at a reasonable price and the people will flock to your “doors;” and the Moto G is just such a smartphone. It can be sold in the U.S. and also in the emerging nations, where the people simply cannot afford a high-end smartphone in the $700 – $800 range. Where else can you get these kind of specifications with Android 4.4.2 KitKat already installed? This will really help spread Google, I mean Motorola, throughout the world, increasing Android’s footprint even larger than it already is, as it covers 80-percent of the operating systems for smartphone devices worldwide. This is a practice that other companies, such as HTC, may want to follow in order to regain their market share.

The Moto G comes with a 4.5-inch 720p Gorilla Glass display, a 5MP camera with a 1.3MP Front Facing Camera (FFC), Qualcomm Snapdragon 400 quad-core processor running at 1.2GHz, a long-lasting 2070mAh battery with up to 24 hours of usage, a water-repellent nano-coating, FM Radio, Wi-Fi and GPS enabled, and Bluetooth 4.0.

This will be the first Motorola handset on Boost Mobile since 2011, and will be offered on their no-contract, $55 Monthly Unlimited plan and for every six payments that you make on-time, the plan shrinks $5 a month down to as low as only $40 per month.

Let us know on our Google+ Page what you think of the “new” Motorola and their approach to the smartphone industry – are they making a wise move in your opinion or do you think they need to get back to higher end devices – or is there room for both under the Google/Motorola joint venture.
