Motorola Updating the Boost Mobile Moto G to Android 4.4.2

On Tuesday, Motorola announced that they were updating the Boost Mobile variant of the Moto G to Android 4.4.2. This comes just a few weeks after the unlocked, GSM versions of the Moto G got their update. Less than a month after the Moto G landed on Boost Mobile, we are already seeing their Moto G owners get the update to KitKat. Motorola has stated that they have begun pushing the update out to Moto G owners on Boost Mobile right now. This bumps up the software version to KXB20.9-1.10-1.18. It also includes a ton of tweaks to the device.

The update includes the new phone dialer, although not the same one that is on the Nexus 5. There’s also the new Gallery, which is actually in the Play Store and can be updated very easily now. You can also print documents right from your Moto G now with Android 4.4.2. Now Hangouts has SMS/MMS support on the Moto G with the update to Android 4.4.2. To enable this, head into Settings tap on Wireless then “Default SMS app” and change it to the one you want to use. Finally, Motorola has added support for the Square Credit Card reader.

Like we said, the update is rolling out now and should be heading to your nearest Boost Mobile Moto G any day now. As always you can go ahead and try and pull down the update by going to “About Phone” then selecting “System Updates” and seeing if the update is available.

It’s great to see Motorola pushing updates so quickly, definitely a nice change of pace compared to the old Motorola with updates. Especially since the Moto G is by no means a flagship device. If you’re on Boost Mobile with the Moto G and have gotten the update, be sure to let us know how you’re liking Android 4.4.2 on your Moto G in the comments below.
