We’ve been hearing a lot about Samsung and their intriguing tablet plans for 2014 and now, it looks like they’re inching ever-closer to that Q1 launch we’ve been hearing about. February is apparently the launch window, with Mobile World Congress more than likely being their unveiling. Well, as SamMobile is reporting, a slew of Samsung tablets have just gained their Bluetooth certification, yet another stamp of approval that allows Samsung to ship these out to the likes of us. Among the tablets that have been given certification are: the Galaxy Tab Pro 8.4 (SM-T320), Galaxy Tab Pro 10.1 (SM-T520), Galaxy Tab 3 Lite (SM-T111), and the Galaxy Note Pro 12.2 (SM-P905). That’s a whole lot of tablets and we’re thinking that might not even be the end of things for Samsung.
Of particular interest are the Galaxy Tab 3 Lite and Galaxy Note Pro 12.2 tablets, both of which could do big things for the Android tablet sector. We all know that price is a deciding factor these days and while the Galaxy Tab 3 7.0 and the Nexus 7 are both very cheap, the Tab 3 Lite is going to take things a lot further. Certainly, corners will have to be cut but average users that are looking to browse the web and play simple, casual games probably won’t care about the missing flare from other models, so long as it’s cheap. Meanwhile, the Galaxy Note 12.2 Pro could offer the market the top-of-the-line Android tablet we’ve been waiting for, the Note 10.1 – 2014 Edition is a pretty great tablet but, a larger canvas, if you will should allow for better productivity or, at the very least a way for Samsung to differentiate themselves from others.
Last year was a good year for Android tablets but, as 2014 gets under way they still have a lot to proof and adoption rates still need improving. When more and more users adopt Android tablets – especially those of larger sizes – we’ll start to see more developers creating great tablet experiences. Samsung will no doubt prove to be an important player in the Android tablet arena of 2014 and we’re pretty excited to see what they have in store for us.
