Pebble Starts Shipping Pebble Steel Today

At CES earlier this month, Pebble announced the Pebble Steel alongside a few other updates like their own appstore. Pebble Steel is a much nicer smartwatch than the original Pebble. It does virtually all the same things that the original Pebble does, although it does use a different charger, but it looks much nicer. It does have a thinner bezel, and a bit nicer of a band now although the bands are not interchangeable on the Steel as they are on the Pebble. We did say that the Pebble Steel is smaller, its dimensions are 46 x 34 x 10.5mm, while the original was 52 x 36 x 11.5mm. However the Pebble Steel is a bit heavier, but we expected that.

Pebble announced that Pebble Steel would start arriving in mid-February. But as of today, the Pebble Steel is now shipping, and you should have yours in the next few days if you’ve already pre-ordered yours. The Pebble Steel has been described as being made from “premium watch components” and it certainly looks like that. The battery life on the Pebble Steel is rated at about 5-7 days which is higher than many of its competitors like the Sony Smartwatch 2 and the Galaxy Gear. It’s also waterproof to 5ATM, so you can still use it while swimming or walking in the rain without needing to worry about taking it off.

The Pebble Steel is on sale for $250 which is $100 over the original, but it does cost a bit more to make. It’s available in Brushed Stainless Steel and Matte Black. I personally like the Matte Black color a bit better. But they both look really nice.

How many of you already ordered a Pebble Steel? Has yours started shipping yet? Let us know in the comments down below.
