So you’re out on a drive, in an unfamiliar place, with no conceivable idea of where you are and how to get to where you’re going. This is where the handy Google Maps comes in. It’s one of the most popular apps and services that Google offers, and for good reason. Because it gets you to where you need to be, and fairly easily we might add. It has long been the favorite among many for directions, navigation, and even just to find some information on local businesses. As of recent times however, some have found that they don’t particularly care for the new update and the UI design that has come along with it. You might be one of those people. If that is the case, and you like the older version of Google Maps better, we’re here to help.
Thanks to a senior member (genius.lizard2) over at XDA Developers, you can now revert back to the older version of Google Maps (version 6) from the updated version 7, without getting that annoying window popping up and notifying you that there is an update and that you should change it. The last thing you might want is your device telling you what to do (although some people might actually love that feature). The solution, is to use a particular mod that genius.lizard 2 has created, that allows you to use both versions of maps on the same device without any sort of contradictory backlash. Both apps can exist on the same exact device for the sheer fact that package names of the apps are different, and even look different to you the user as they sport a completely different icon. This should make for discerning which one is which a whole lot easier.
There are multiple variations of the application from genius.lizard2 available so in case you need one with a certain language or with a specific mod he has implemented you can have that.
