Rumor: Samsung To Unveil the Galaxy S5 in London in Mid-March

There’s a new rumor floating around this weekend, regarding the Galaxy S5. Word is, Samsung is looking to announce the Galaxy S5 in Mid-March at an event in London. Of course that would be an Unpacked event, as usual. This is according to an Italian journalist, Flavio, who claims that this came from a reliable source.

This sound about right because last year Samsung announced the Galaxy S4 around mid-March with it hitting carriers throughout April, at least in the US. It shouldn’t be a surprise to anyone that the event isn’t part of Mobile World Congress since Samsung hasn’t announced anything major at a trade-show in a few years. Well technically, they announce the Galaxy Note devices at IFA in September, but it’s still an Unpacked event. Those that remember from last year, Samsung ran around handing out invites to their Unpacked event for the Galaxy S4 at Mobile World Congress to members of the press that were in Barcelona.

Typically at Mobile World Congress Samsung will announce some low-end or mid-range devices, if anything. They are mostly there to show off their current devices for those that haven’t seen them. As Samsung loves to have their own event and have all the spotlight on them. Which makes sense.

So we’ll start seeing plenty more rumors about the Galaxy S5 surfacing very soon. Some might be spot-on, and others might be very off. Which is normal with a lot of flagship devices, however, I think Samsung’s devices get leaked a whole lot more than everything else. With the exception of the Moto X. It’s going to be interesting to see what the new version of Touchwiz will look like, and possibly the new hardware, which Samsung has said they are working on.
