The rumored Samsung Galaxy Note 3 Lite turns out to be the Galaxy Note 3 Neo, according to the leaked product positioning documents that GSMarena got their hands on. The documents show all sorts of leaked specs, as well as the name description of the device. The Neo, as Samsung will be calling this new device seems to be an updated version of the Galaxy Note 2, although it was previously thought that it would be a “lite” version of the Note 3 with less impressive specs and features. The Note 3 Neo features similar specs to the Note 2, and actually carries the same size display and resolution, as well as the same battery at 3,100mAh, the same 8Mp camera, and the same RAM and internal storage combo, with 2GB of RAM, and 16GB of internal storage space.
What does appear to be new with the Note 3 Neo is the processor. According to the documents, the Note 3 Neo will house a new 1.7GHz Dual + 1.3GHz quad-core processor, rather than the 1.6GHz quad-core Exynos that was found inside the Note 2. On the processor side of things, the Note 3 Neo will definitely have some improvements and should provide ample performance boosts compared to the Note 2. How will this processor compare to other similar processors that are on the same level? That remains to be seen. Even though some of the specs on the Note 3 Neo will be similar to the Note 2, we will see the same leather like texture on the back make its way to the Neo, as well as some of the smart features that you can find in the Note 3 and the S4 like the advance multi-window, as well as the Air command feature. It also has a thinner profile than the Note 2, making it more in line with the sleeker look of the Note 3.
It’ll be interesting to see how the Note 3 Neo stacks up on benchmarks with the hexacore processor that it has inside, and while there is no mention of things like price or a launch timeframe, we expect it won’t be too far off. CES is almost over and while there no smartphone announcements from Samsung at the event, MWC is next month, where we might likely hear something about new devices.
