An official press release for the much-rumored Samsung Galaxy Tab 3 Lite (SM-T110) has not yet surfaced from the Samsung camp. However, another source has given official credence to the rumors surrounding the low-cost tablet device from the Korean manufacturer. The information arrived to us from Samsung’s Polish website, where the user manual for the SM-T110 (the Wi-Fi-only variant of the tablet) was revealed.
Pointing towards an impending release is the fact that a Polish retailer – X-KOM.pl has listed the device on their website for pre-booking at an asking price of $165 for the Wi-Fi variant (SM-T110) and $263 for the 3G variant (SM-T111). The specifications of the device, as listed by the retailer, are similar to the specs that were in circulation in the rumor mill, namely, a 7 inch display with an acceptable 600 x 1024 resolution, a dual core Marvell PXA986 processor clocked at 1.2 GHz, a 2-megapixel rear camera, 1 GB of RAM, 8 GB of internal memory which is expandable through the microSD slot. The device will be powered by a 3,600 mAh battery and will come with Android 4.2 Jelly Bean onboard. There is no clarity as to when, and if, the device would be upgraded to Android 4.4 Kit Kat.
In terms of design and dimensions, the user manual suggests that Samsung has stuck with the same design principles as last years’ Samsung Galaxy Tab 3 7.0. The Samsung Galaxy Tab 3 Lite measures 193 x 117 x 9.7 mm and weighs in at 310 grams, which is slightly bigger and heavier than the Samsung Galaxy Tab 3 7.0. The premature release of the device on the X-KOM.pl site stands testimony to the speculation that we may get an official press release any day now.
However, we would still advise caution to our enthusiastic readers, until and unless there an official press release for the US, we would not advise you to take these specifications as final, as Samsung has definitely cut a lot of corners with this device.
