If there’s one thing Samsung is really good at, it’s putting out a device for everyone, literally. Samsung just put out four new tablets at CES 2014 last week. And now the rumors of the impending Galaxy S5 launch are starting to heat up. We heard over the weekend that Samsung was looking to announced the Galaxy S5 in Mid-March, which isn’t that far away, and does sound very likely as that’s when they announced it last year. Sammobileis reporting today that they have “confirmed” the specs for the Galaxy S5. As well as confirming that Samsung is planning to reveal the Galaxy S5 Zoom and S5 Mini. Last year, Samsung announced the Galaxy S4, S4 Active, S4 Mini and S4 Zoom.
Allegedly, the Galaxy S5 is going to launch in two variations. One with a metal body, and one with a plastic body. This sounds pretty close to the rumors we’ve been hearing lately. Sammobile also said that the metal Galaxy S5 will be priced at 800 euro and the plastic one at 650 euro. Obviously, that price will likely change when it hits the US with carrier contracts.
The Galaxy S5’s “confirmed” specs include a 2560×1440 resolution display, while Sammobile couldn’t confirm the size, they expect it to still measure about 5.25-inches. It’s also expected to feature a Snapdragon 805 processor in LTE markets and a Exynos 6 chip in others. There’s also talk of a 16MP camera on the back and Android 4.4 – KitKat out of the box. Now the fact that it has KitKat out-of-the-box shouldn’t be surprising. After all, the Galaxy Tab Pro, and Galaxy Note Pro tablets they announced at CES came with Android 4.4 KitKat pre-installed.
It’s being reported that the Galaxy S5 Mini and Galaxy S5 Zoom will not launch alongside the Galaxy S5, but there will be separate events for the Galaxy S5 spinoffs. I’m just hoping there’s a water resistant Galaxy S5, even though the Galaxy S4 Active had issues last year with it not really being water resistant.
