Those of us that want to get a look back at the previous year and see what’s trending now have a nice little way to do so. If you have an extra minute or two during the day and want to pass the time, why not fill your head with some knowledge about the previous year’s trending topics? Google can help you acquire this knowledge via the new app 100 according to Google. It’s quite a nifty little app that compiles the previous years “most trending” topics according to Google, and feeds the information to you in a sort of magazine style.
Once you have selected a topic in which you want to read about, instead of scrolling from side to side like you would with a magazine, you scroll up and down much like you do with Play Newsstand, and you can see all sorts of the most trending events that happened within each topic. As soon as you open 100 according to Google, you’re greeted with a rather nice little collage image of all the topics put together, and tapping on any one image will take you to a certain topic, which then lets read about all the hottest things that happened for that category. For example, Tapping on an image of the Nexus 5 will take you to the technology topic, which you can then tap again to go in and read all the most trending technology related events for the year like the PS4, and Xbox One launches, as well as the Nexus 5 launch itself.
Getting back to other trending topics is super simple, as all you have to do is hit the back button, and you’re now back at the “Technology” topic. The nice thing about the design of this app, is that Google has made it so that when you press on an image, it leads you to that topic which is in the form of a tiny bubble, surrounded by all the other topics in a circle form. You can easily reach and access each additional trending topic without having to go all the way back to the main collage image screen. Although it is kind of cool to look at. If you wish to quench your thirst for knowledge on trending topics, you can grab 100 According to Google from the Play Store for free.
