Sony Xperia Z1 Compact Drops to £399.00 in the UK From Clove

Back at CES a few weeks ago, Sony announced the Xperia Z1 Compact, alongside the Xperia Z1s (for T-Mobile). We know it’s coming soon, while it’s still up for pre-orders in the UK. We just don’t know that it’s coming to any carriers in the US. It’ll likely be unlocked only for the US, unfortunately. Although, for our friends in the UK, Clove is now offering the device for pre-order and have dropped the price to £399.00, that’s £50 cheaper than what was initially priced at.

The Xperia Z1 Compact is literally the same as the Xperia Z1 and Xperia Z1s, except it’s sporting a 4.3-inch display. That includes a Qualcomm Snapdragon 800 processor, 2GB of RAM, 16GB of internal storage with a microSD card slot, and a nice hefty 2300mAh battery. Which I think is pretty big for a device that size. Then there’s the camera. Like the Xperia Z1 and Xperia Z1s, it’s sporting a 20.7MP camera on the back. With a 1/2.3″ sensor size, and all kinds of great apps inside the camera app. My personal favorite app is the Background Defocus, which is one of my favorite ways to take pictures on my Sony RX100.

Sony has really done a great job making a “mini” phone. Typically when we see mini phones that hold the flagships name, like the Galaxy S4 Mini, HTC One Mini, etc., we see lesser specs. For example the Galaxy S4 Mini sports a qHD display, and the HTC One Mini has a 720p display. For Sony to have all the same specs in the Xperia Z1 Compact as what’s in the Xperia Z1, it’s definitely a great thing.

Anyways, the Xperia Z1 Compact should be headed towards your doorstep in mid-February, with Carphone Warehouse shipping on January 31st. How many of you are going to be picking up the Xperia Z1 Compact in the next month or so? Let us know in the comments below.
