Verizon has never been known for timely updates when it comes to Android OS versions, but whether they start to speed up their timing on OTA’s or not, that apparently hasn’t stopped one Moto X owner on Verizon’s network from receiving his update to Android 4.4.2. According to a tweet that was posted earlier today on the user’s Twitter account, followed by a nice little thread on Reddit, Verizon has sent user @djsterion the update to 4.4.2 KitKat over the air. This seems to have happened sometime this morning around 9:44 am EST, and while we have yet to hear of any confirmations from Verizon regarding the updates, this serves as evidence that suggests Verizon might be closing to pushing out the update, and getting ready to make an announcement concerning the matter.
Whatever the case may be, the user who got the update is more than likely a pretty happy camper and he only apparently just bought his Moto X yesterday. Getting the prompt to update in less than 24 hours after purchase would normally be considered a record time, but seeing as how the Moto X has been out on Verizon for some time now this scenario doesn’t fall into that category. If you follow the thread on Reddit or go over the responses from the original Tweet, you can see that at least one other person has confirmed getting the same exact update. This definitely feels like Verizon is getting closer to dropping the software and rolling it out for all users. If in fact they do begin the rollout, expect the updates to happen incrementally as they do with any update regardless of device or carrier.
