Many of you probably know how big of a fan of Swiftkey I am. In fact, it’s one of the first apps I install on review devices. Swiftkey has had some big changes in the past year or so with Swiftkey Flow and Swiftkey Cloud. But today, the company announced at CES in Las Vegas that their entire adaptive text-entry keyboard will be integrated with Clarions forthcoming AX1 head unit. This probably seems a bit odd at first, but Clarion’s kit has native apps for email and web browsing, which means the predictive text feature from Swiftkey really isn’t that surprising and will definitely make the device easier to use. As Swiftkey is telling us this morning, the company is taking everything it’s learned from the mobile environment and applying it to other areas where it makes sense. So basically, this probably isn’t the only place we’ll see Swiftkey pop up besides tablets and phones.
The AX1 is expected to be released in the first quarter of the year and to be around $800. If you’re one of those that can’t wait to get your hands on it, you can go ahead and pre-order one right now. There’s also a couple of videos down below from Clarion. The first one shows the 1080p playback and the second one is “A day in the life of Adam and the AX1”.
We always see some pretty interesting things at CES, and this year has been no different. We’re seeing Android and 4G LTE in cars, and now we’re seeing Swiftkey pop up in your stereo, which is no real surprise, in my opinion. I was waiting to see where Swiftkey would pop up next. How many of you are anxious to get the Clarion AX1? Are you excited to see Swiftkey on board? Let us know your thoughts in the comments below.
