Are you looking for a place to rest your feet where you can enjoy the latest updates without all the waiting that other countries have to go through? Well in that case it looks like you should be moving to Poland, which is apparently quickly becoming the world’s testbed for Android 4.4 KitKat updates. We’ve seen Samsung push out more than a few updates in Poland first, and now it looks like Sony and LG will be joining them. Last November shortly after Android 4.4 KitKat was announced, Sony released plans to get many of their flagship phones updated to Google’s latest mobile OS, and it looks like those plans are beginning to come to fruition. While they are going to be a month or two outside of their initial January launch window that was spoken about in early November, the KitKat update for the Xperia Z in Poland is scheduled to be rolling out near the end of February into early March, likely in a staged rollout to prevent server bottlenecks. There’s no telling quite yet what Sony’s going to include in its KitKat update outside of the regular KitKat-type features, but we got a good idea when the rumored Xperia Z2’s software got leaked a little while ago.
Not to be left in the dust, LG is beginning its Android 4.4 KitKat update rollout for the LG G2 as well. Just yesterday LG started the software update in their home country of South Korea, and it looks like it’ll only take about a month to reach outside their borders. According to the same release schedule by Polish carrier PLAY, the LG G2 will be getting the KitKat update rolled out in mid-March. This goes right along with the tentative release schedule for Canadian LG G2’s we saw that said Q1 2014 was the release date for the Android 4.4 KitKat update, and will likely be the case in other regions and countries as well. LG’s version of KitKat has also been fairly elusive. While there aren’t a ton of visual differences in LG’s skin outside of removing a lot of the teal blues and replacing them with whites, the background improvements in KitKat are the biggest items to salivate over anyway. LG’s G2 is already a blazing fast beast, and with KitKat it’ll be even more so.
