With all the leaks and rumors floating around about the latest and greatest coming from Samsung, HTC, and LG, some of us might forget about companies like Meizu and Xiaomi that also offer up some pretty decent handsets. Thanks to the Antutu benchmarking website, we can jog our memories a bit with some leaked specs of the upcoming handset from Chinese manufacturer Xaiomi, the Mi4. The Xiaomi Mi 4 looks like it’ll be able to go toe to toe with some of this years big name flagships, on paper at least. We’ll of course how to see how the phones will all hold up in real world conditions, but the leaked specs gives us a little bit of insight.
Just looking at the image from Antutu, we can already spot something that caught our eye and immediately lets us down just a little. That’s the version of Android that the Mi4 has running on it when tested in this benchmark, Android 4.3 Jelly Bean. This could change of course when the official phone releases, but there’s also the possibility that Xaiomi could be planning to launch the phone with Android 4.3 and then update it to 4.4 later on. We hope that’s not the case but we’ll reserve judgement until we know something officially. When it comes to processing power, we said that the Mi4 looks like it’ll be able to go toe to toe with the likes of the Galaxy S5 and the HTC M8, and we meant it. Both of those competing devices are expected to come packing the most powerful version of the Snapdragon 800 chip available, and the Mi 4 comes with that same processor according to the Antutu benchmarks. The processor here is clocked at 2.46GHz. Display wise it’s got a 1,920×1,080 resolution screen, this isn’t the most impressive display resolution we’ve heard rumors about so far, but it still sounds quite exemplary and we’re betting that it looks nice. The aforementioned specs look great, but the camera and the RAM are where we personally see things really taking off for the device. 3GB of RAM is no small amount and should provide plenty of memory to run anything smoothly, and a rear camera with 13MP accompanied by an 8MP front facing camera is nothing to frown at.
Storage looks to weigh in at 16GB, which is pretty standard for many smartphones these days. Expect this phone to come skinned with Miui out of the box, and as for network connectivity support, were looking at WCDMA, and probably LTE. Things are looking pretty good so far for Xaiomis upcoming flagship phone, and we know what “The WoZ” would have to say about it. That it’s ready for the U.S. market. We sure hope so, because the Mi4 is looking pretty sweet.
