Bose is one of my favorite companies for headphones, earbuds and Bluetooth speakers. I own their MIE2 headset (and use it during the AH Show every week, usually), and have loved them for the 3 years I’ve owned them. The sound quality is fantastic, and so is the build quality. After three years of use, they still look virtually brand new, and that’s saying something.
Bose has had the Soundlink II out for quite a while, and today they have announced the successor which is the Soundlink III, big surprise right? The new Soundlink III uses Bose proprietary technologies to reproduce music with fullness, clarity and depth. There are four neodymium transducers and dual-opposing passive radiators that combine with a new digital signal processing algorithm and improved electronics to play louder than the Soundlink II, while still maintaining balanced and natural sound at higher listening levels.
The Soundlink III weighs in at just three pounds, and is about 5-inches tall, 10-inches wide and 2-inches deep. There’s also a rechargeable lithium-ion battery inside that is said to give you at least 14 hours of continuous playback. Which is pretty good, the best battery life I’ve seen is on the Ultimate Ears BOOM speakers which provide 15 hours. The Soundlink III uses Bluetooth to stream wirelessly, which has a powerful antenna for reliable connectivity. There are also new Bluetooth LED lights that make pairing and/or switching a Bluetooth device even easier. It’ll also store the six most recently used Bluetooth devices in memory so it’ll auto-connect to those.
Bose has the Soundlink III available now through their website and other retailers. The Soundlink III is going for $299.95, and also has some accessory colors which come in pink, green, orange, blue and gray, which are going for $34.95. It’s a great looking Bluetooth speaker and will likely be a great sounding one as well.
