For the longest time, we had been hearing that the Galaxy S5 would feature a 2560×1440 resolution display, then we started hearing rumors (which started with the New York Times) that it would still be a 1080p display. And those conflicting rumors are continuing today as we have two new rumors out.
We’ll start with the rumor from Sammobile. This one we talked about earlier today, but we’ll touch on it again briefly. It appears that a Dutch retailer, Typhone has posted the Galaxy S5 already, and it has a lower resolution. How low? Well just a 1080p display, which is still not that bad of a display. The listing on their site does not include any type of render, or picture of the Galaxy S5. We’ve also seen the UA Profile of a Galaxy S5 variant pop up on Sprint’s website, boasting a 1080p display.
Now onto the new leak. This is coming from samsunggalaxys5abonnement.com, which is showing the Galaxy S5 as having a 5.25-inch display with a resolution of 2560×1440. Which would mean a 560ppi, and the display we’ve been looking at seeing on the Galaxy S5 for quite a while now. This would be a 2K display, or a QHD. That’s with a capital Q, not a lower-case q. We definitely don’t want qHD displays back, am I right?
Otherwise we are looking at either a 16MP or 20MP camera on the back, 3200mAh battery, Android 4.4 KitKat, Snapdragon 800 or Exynos 6 64-bit processor – depending on the market, with 3GB of RAM, and storage options of 32GB, 64GB, and 128GB. Pretty much standard specs for a flagship, which should be unveiled next Monday at Mobile World Congress in Barcelona. Which we will be covering as we always do. So be sure to stay tuned to Android Headlines for all the info from Unpacked 5 as well as every other event going on that day in Barcelona. It’s sure going to be a busy day.
