Fast Company Names T-Mobile One of the Most Innovative Companies in 2014

Whether or not you are a fan of T-Mobile, you should be a fan of what they are doing. They are forcing their competitors to change how things are done. Although it seems that AT&T is changing more than Sprint and Verizon. In 2013 they were one of the most talked about companies. If not just for the moves they were making, but for the antics that CEO John Legere is pulling. Yes, Legere likes to bash his competitors, but who doesn’t laugh at the stuff he’s doing? Like crashing AT&T’s CES 2014 party last month?

FastCompany.com just announced their 50 most innovative companies for 2014 which include the usual brands like Google, Dropbox, Apple, Nike, Netflix, Twitter, etc. but new to the list is T-Mobile. Why T-Mobile? Well what they are doing is pretty innovative. How many other carriers have done the things they’ve done in the past 12 months? And no, I’m not solely talking about Legere’s bashing of AT&T. But offering unlimited roaming in over 100 countries, and offering 200MB of free data for tablets every month and more. T-Mobile actually made it to the 20th spot on the list, tying with Tesla, Box, and WME. “The cell phone industry is ripe for reform, but who expected changes to come within its own ranks? T-Mobile has won over customers by offering free international roaming, no contracts, 200 MB of free data on tablets, and faster times between phone upgrades-that is, by trying to be customer friendly.”

You can check out the full list over on Fast Company’s website. Some of the companies listed there may surprise you, just like T-Mobile’s spot surprised many of us.

While Sprint is supposedly trying to buy T-Mobile, one has to wonder if everything they’ve done in the past 12 months is the reason that Sprint wants them? Before Legere came on as CEO, I don’t think Sprint really cared about T-Mobile. What do you think?
