A bit later than usual. Actually much later than usual, since Google usually announces dates for their developer conference in December or November of the previous year. But finally we know when the Google I/O Developer conference is taking place this year. Sundar Pichai announced on his Google+ page just a few minutes ago that Google I/O will be taking place at the Moscone West as it does every year from June 25 to the 26th. That’s roughly 126 days away from now.
Pichai also stated that more details will be coming next month. Which includes registration info, and likely the dash for tickets to this years developer conference. Sundar also stated that they have made some changes to registration this year. So instead of scrambling to get your ticket as soon as registration opens, you can relax a bit more. The new system consists of you submitting your interest to attend Google I/O 2014. Successful applicants will be randomly selected and notified shortly after.
At Google I/O last year, we didn’t get to see a whole lot. But Google did announced a bunch of API changes as well as Google Play Music All Access, the brand new Google Play redesign, some new Chrome experiments, and we can’t forget the new Google Maps, which was just announced to be rolling out to everyone starting today. Typically we see a new version of Android at Google I/O along with a new Nexus 7. However last year we saw neither of those, those were announced at an event two months later, entitled “Breakfast with Sundar”. Which could happen again this year, but we’ll have to wait and see what happens.
Who else is excited for Google I/O this year? I know I certainly am. I can’t wait to see what Google has planned to show off this year at Google I/O in San Francisco. Anyone want to make any predictions?
