HTC announced the Desire 816 earlier, and now they’ve taken the wraps off of the Desire 610 which is another mid-range device. From the looks of it, it looks like a cross between the iPhone 5C and the HTC One 2013. Which probably isn’t a bad thing, as I think it looks really nice. You’ll notice on the front there are the Boomsound speakers, as well as the front-facing camera. There’s also the HTC logo and no capacitive buttons. It appears that HTC has also moved those to on-screen buttons. Which pretty much confirms that the HTC One 2014 will also have on-screen buttons when it is announced next month in London.
The HTC Desire 610 is a 4.7-inch phone. Although HTC isn’t saying what the resolution is, I’ll be betting on a 720p display. It also has both HSPA+ and LTE radios on-board and is powered by the Quad-Core Qualcomm Snapdragon 400 processor combined with a gig of RAM. It also features all your favorite HTC features, like Blinkfeed, Boomsound and more. However it doesn’t appear to have an UltraPixel camera, which is probably a good thing. There’s no word on the camera just yet, but I’d expect something around a 5-8MP camera on the back and about a 1.3MP front-facing shooter.
The Desire 610 is going on sale in European markets in May. So far there’s no word on availability in teh rest of the world. Honestly, I doubt we’ll see any of the Desire phones here in the US. As HTC has never really brought the Desire-brand over to the US in the past. And if they did, it was rebranded for a carrier exclusive. And we all know how much carrier exclusives suck.
For a mid-range device, it’s definitely a good looking one. And one that I’d definitely take a look at. HTC said they were going to hit the mid-range and low-end markets this year, and it looks like they are keeping true to that promise. It’s great to have some nice looking mid-range devices with excellent build quality, right?
