HTC Desire 8 Specs Leak Out: Snapdragon 400, 5.5-inch 720p Display, and More

One of our favorite leakers, @LlabTooFeR, has published the specs of the HTC Desire 8. Some of you may not have heard of this guy before, but he’s a famed HTC leaker who is almost always right. His reputation is right up there with Evleaks. So when he says something, it’s a good idea to believe it.

Today, he’s leaked out the specs of the HTC Desire 8. This is after we were told that the Desire 8 is being announced at Mobile World Congress on February 24th. The specs of the HTC Desire 8 include a quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 400 processor clocked at 1.2GHz, a 5.5-inch 720p Display (likely Super LCD 3), 13MP shooter on the back, 5MP front-facing shooter, 8GB of storage with a microSD card slot, 1GB of RAM, Bluetooth 4.0, WiFi 802.11 a/b/g/n/ac, Android 4.4.2 with Sense 6, and on-screen buttons.

In those specs, there’s a lot of good stuff, but there are two things that aren’t so good. That’s the display and processor. While the Snapdragon 400 is a great processor, I still would rather see the Snapdragon 800 inside. Having said that, this isn’t a high-end device, but it’s still a pretty good looking device, as long as HTC prices it right.

LlabTooFeR also has the markets that the HTC Desire 8 is heading to. There’s the A5_CHL with is headed for Sprint, then the A5_DUG which is a Dual-SIM UMTS/GSM model, A5_DWG which is a Dual-SIM CDMA/GSM model, A5_UL UMTS/LTE model for Europe, Africa, Asia, and AT&T (USA). Finally there is the A5_TL which is for the TD-LTE networks in China. It’s likely that the AT&T and Sprint models will be renamed when they become available here. As the Desire name is typically in Europe and other countries, and not the US. But then again, there is a Desire on Boost Mobile. So we’ll have to wait and see.

We should get the full details next week in Barcelona. So we’ll stay tuned for that announcement.
