Samsung’s Unpacked event just wrapped up, and HTC has tweeted out a message for Samsung fans that hinted at their own refresh of their flagship, which is coming on March 25th. Basically, the graphic says “Buyer’s remorse: Coming soon to S5 Owners.” with the date of their event in the lower-right hand corner.
Last year, HTC also went after Samsung during their event. But last year the HTC One was announced before the Galaxy S4 event in New York City. HTC actually had reps at Radio City Music hall giving out HTC One review units to those from the press that were heading into the event. Kind of like crashing Samsung’s party, but not to the extent of what John Legere from T-Mobile would do.
Right now, HTC is planning on announcing their own HTC One follow-up on March 25th, which is actually later than last year. Which is kind of unheard of in this industry. As it’s usually just under a year between flagships, not over a year. But it looks like we’re in for another HTC/Samsung war this year as well. Which Samsung will inevitably win because they have a ton more money than HTC, in fact they actually make money each quarter.
For those that may have missed it, the Galaxy S5 was just announced, alongside the Gear Fit in Barcelona. The Galaxy S5 has a 5.1-inch Super AMOLED Full HD display, Snapdragon quad-core 2.5GHz processor, 2GB of RAM, Water-resistant, 2800mAh battery 16MP camera, and Android 4.4. So it’s definitely not a bad device, even though we are surprised by the 2GB of RAM on the Galaxy S5, considering the Galaxy Note 3 has 3GB of RAM, and other flagships like the LG G Pro 2 and Sony Xperia Z2 has 3GB of RAM. But I’m sure Samsung has their own reasons for that.
So, Shots fired by HTC? How can they afford too?
