Samsung just pushed out a couple new commercials for their Galaxy TabPRO 10.1 tablets. In which they return to their roots, which is bashing Apple. You may remember back in 2010 or 2011, Samsung put out a bunch of commercials bashing Apple, or Samsunged. Since then, Samsung has kind of backed away from Apple and let them do their own thing. But that hasn’t stopped other companies like Microsoft from comparing their Surface 2 to the iPad Air, and bashing Apple’s tablet.
In this new commercial, Samsung is talking about the size of the pencil and uses of it. So naturally you’d think it’s about the Galaxy NotePRO 12.2 right? Wrong. It’s actually showing how thin the iPad Air is, then showing how much thinner the Galaxy TabPRO 10.1 truly is. Then Samsung continues by showing off the amazing HD display on the Galaxy TabPRO 10.1 as well as some of the multi-tasking features that Samsung has been touting in their commercials for a while.
For reference, the display on the iPad Air is 2048×1536, which gives it a 264ppi. Then there’s the Galaxy TabPRO 10.1 which has a 2560×1600 resolution display with a 299ppi. So it’s not a high difference in pixel density, and most people probably wouldn’t even notice, but it is something that Samsung can brag about now can’t they? Additionally, the Galaxy TabPRO 10.1 is 7.3mm thin and the iPad Air is 7.5mm thin. So once again, Samsung beats Apple in the thinness (or thickness?) department.
Both of these tablets are actually the same price, the 16GB of the Galaxy TabPRO 10.1 is $499 and so is the 16GB version of the iPad Air. But for the better specs, I’d probably lean towards the Galaxy TabPRO 10.1. Although it does have Touchwiz, which many people aren’t a fan of, it’s still a great tablet. Although, I’d spend the extra $50 to get the Galaxy Note 10.1 2014 Edition, as I’d love to have the S Pen on a screen that big.
