Since T-Mobile really started their Uncarrier movement last year, Verizon and the rest of the carriers have been tweaking their plans to compete with T-Mobile’s plans. Just a few weeks ago, AT&T announced their new family plan which included 4 lines with 10GB of data for $160/month. Which is actually a really great deal. But what would make it better is unlimited data, however we pretty much know that’s not making a comeback, unfortunately.
Now the spotlight is on Verizon. According to leaked screenshots that Android Police have obtained, it appears Verizon will be announcing “MORE Everything” soon. Verizon also released a #MORE Everything teaser shortly after, and telling us to stay tuned tomorrow for details. But basically, it appears that this new MORE Everything is going to double your data allotment on select plans, provide open enrollment for Verizon Edge, bump their cloud storage from 5GB to 25GB, also including unlimited international messaging. They are also touting that there is double the bandwidth in cities coast-to-coast. Which we had heard would be happening, as their network is getting a bit congested in some areas.
They are changing the data plans of the 500MB will now be 1GB, 1GB will be 2GB and 2GB will be 3GB. Once more, they are also offering a discount on line access fees for those that are on Verizon Edge. So if you are on Verizon Edge with a plan up to 8GB of data, you’ll be paying $30 for your smartphone to access that data, and over 10GB, it’ll be $20. Instead of the normal $40 per line. Which is a nice thing to see change from Verizon.
Basically the changes are promoting Verizon Edge more than they were in the past. Which may or may not be a good thing. We’ll have to wait and see. But it is nice to see the likes of Verizon and AT&T changing their plans up a bit. I don’t know for sure that it’s because of T-Mobile, but it does sound very likely.
