LG Announces the Third-Generation L Series, L90, L70 and L40 Ahead of MWC

LG has just announced a few more smartphones which they’ll be showing off at Mobile World Congress next week. They already announced the G Pro 2 earlier this week. Now they’ve announced the third-generation L series of smartphones which are rather low-end devices and do run Android. What’s interesting here, is that all three of these are running Android 4.4 – KitKat. Which is great to see. Especially on lower-end devices which would typically be running a version or two behind. Likely Android 4.2.2.

As far as the specs go, the L90 is running on a quad-core 1.2GHz processor, 4.7-inch IPS qHD display, 8GB of internal storage, and 1GB of RAm, along with a 8MP and 1.3MP camera, 2,540mAh battery which is removable, it’ll also be running on 3G and HSPA+ 21mbps. No LTE here. As far as dimensions go, we’re looking at 131.6 x 66 x 9.7mm.

Now the L70 on the other hand is sporting a dual-core 1.2Ghz processor, with a 4.5-inch IPS 800×400 resolution display, along with 4GB of internal storage, and a gig of RAM. There’s also a 8MP/5MP camera around back (depending on the market) and a VGA front-facer. It also has a 2100mAh battery inside, and will also run on 3G and HSPA+ 21mbps. Dimensions are 127.2 x 66.8 x 9.5mm.

Finally the L40. Which is running on a dual-core 1.2GHz processor with a 3.5-inch display which has a resolution of 480×320 and has 4GB of internal storage and 512MB of RAM. It also has a 3MP camera on the back, and no camera on the front. It’ll also have a 1700mAh battery or a 1540mAh removable one, depending on the market of course. It’ll also run on 3G or HSPA+ 14.4mbps networks and the dimensions are 109.4 x 59 x 11.9mm.

So some nice low-end offerings here from LG. No specs that are really going to wow us, but I wouldn’t expect these to hit the states. We may see some variant of them though, which will probably get LTE and be available on T-Mobile and AT&T’s MVNO’s soon after launch. Great to see them with Android 4.4 KitKat as well.
