LG G Pro 2 Vs LG G2 – How Much Can Be Changed in Less than 6 Months?

This evening, LG dropped a bombshell. Introducing the world to the LG G Pro 2. They announced it over in their homeland of Korea this evening, and it has some monster specs. But then again, so did the G2 when it was announced back in September. So how do they stack up against each other? Well lets take a look.

The major differences between the two devices are the display (5.9 vs 5.2 inches), RAM (3GB vs 2GB), microSD card slot and removable battery, as well as the battery size. The LG G Pro 2 is not meant to be the successor to the G2, but similar to Samsung, it’s meant to be their high-end phablet offering. While LG has the G line and the G Pro lines, to compete with Samsung’s Galaxy S and Galaxy Note lines. What’s good for LG, though, is that they launch their devices at opposite ends of the year. Which is good, because you don’t have direct competition with Samsung, as far as specs go. The LG G Pro 2 is definitely a beast and is going to sell pretty well. But then again, it may not sell all that well, because there’s no stylus. Many people I know want the Galaxy Note simply for the S Pen. While myself, I won’t ever really use it. It’s still nice to have.

So should you pick up the G Pro 2 over the G2? I’d say that’s up to your preference as to whether or not you want a phablet or a phone. But it’s clear that both devices have very small bezels, making it pretty small, even for having a large display. Hopefully we’ll see the G Pro 2 launch on every carrier, which we should learn more about it at Mobile World Congress in just under two weeks. In the meantime, we’ll keep our fingers crossed for the LG G Pro 2 hitting all four carriers, and you can check out the spec comparison down below.
