Motorola might have recently been sold off to Lenovo, but that doesn’t mean their immediate plans are going to change. In fact, for the majority of 2014 – if not all of it – it’ll be business as usual for Motorola. That business includes a press conference during Mobile World Congress later this month. Come February 25th, it looks like Motorola is going to have something more to share with the mobile industry. The big question is of course, what?
Things have been relatively quiet concerning new devices from Motorola and there’s no telling just what Motorola have on offer come February 25th. A new flagship launch is somewhat unlikely, as the US is still Motorola’s largest market and we’re pretty sure that Motorola will want it to keep it that way. However, with the Moto G, the company has broadened their horizons into Europe and emerging markets such as India. We doubt new hardware will be launching at this year’s Mobile World Congress, but we’re sure that Motorola will have something important to share with us and maybe some hints at what’s to come.
Such a conference is perhaps more important for Motorola than we realize. After all, MWC is a big deal for mobile giants and Motorola is still climbing back up the ladder. With losses posted for the last few quarters, Motorola has a long way to go before they become profitable again. A large part of that will be their brand awareness, especially in Europe. For a long time, the company was all but MIA in Europe and the Moto G was the first sign of them making moves to make themselves heard again in Europe. A new device from Motorola would be nice, but we can only wait and see until then. What do you think? Could Motorola be releasing new hardware this soon after the Moto X and Moto G?
