It seems that all we can hear about lately is Motorola. Fourth quarter earnings, the Lenovo acquisition, Android OS updates. In a sea of mobile related news, Motorola keeps coming back up. Now, they apparently have something they want to show off or tell the public at the upcoming Mobile World Congress event to be held later this month in Barcelona, Spain, as they have scheduled an event themselves to take place on February 25th at the conference. Holding this event could mean nothing major, but it could also be huge as all things big and small in upcoming mobile related products usually make their presence known at this event every year.
Motorola reportedly sent out invites today for the media event that is to be held, which has people buzzing about the notion of the company possibly pushing out a new device at this years MWC. Many think there will be nothing to see in the way of new devices from Motorola this year, still Motorola will be holding a media event press release, which is more than likely not going to be focused around software updates. So what could they be trying to gather an audience for? Well, there will probably be some conversations concerning the acquisition by Lenovo, as Motorola and Lenovo will surely want to put the consumers minds at ease for the future of the company going forward. What better place to do that then at a major mobile centered event?
Word from Motorola and Dennis Woodside, Motorola’s current CEO, is that more information about the press event coming up in the next few weeks will surface as the date gets closer. For now all we have to talk about is possibilities paired with hopes and dreams for what could be the main focus of the whole deal. One thing is for certain, you can bet that whatever Motorola has planned, it’s big enough to hold a separate event for. What do you think the big announcements will be? Will there be any? Now that we know about the special gathering for press and Moto execs, let the speculations begin!
