Nvidia Launch Tegra Note 7 with LTE; Marries KitKat and Tegra 4 Together

Nvidia have just announced that they’re bringing 4G LTE to their Tegra Note 7 Android tablet, as well as expanding availability to other regions in which the original wasn’t available. If you’re unfamiliar with the Tegra Note 7, it’s essentially Nvidia’s answer to the Nexus 7, albeit distributed through any number of OEMs. For instance, in the UK there’s a PNY Tegra Note 7, which is essentially the same as the original. However, here in the US HP sell their own take on the Tegra Note 7. Now though, Nvidia is announcing a new model of the Note 7 with LTE connectivity.

The new model features the graphics giant’s i500 LTE modem and features the same 1280 x 800 7-inch display and the same 1.8 Ghz Tegra 4 that’s at the heart of the tablet. The LTE model supports bands 2,4,5,17,7 as well as 850/1900/2100 frequencies on HSPA+, too. The tablet will also be going on sale in more countries throughout Western Europe. In areas without LTE, 3G will be accessible and of course, the same WiFi features from the first model are all accounted for.

It’s not just the LTE model that Nvidia is making a little noise about today, either. Android 4.4 KitKat has now been sent to the original WiFi-only model and the LTE version of the device will be launching with Android 4.4 KitKat when it launches worldwide in the second quarter of this year. KitKat brings with it all of the changes Google included last Autumn – with Nvidia leaving it mostly alone – and Nvidia’s Game Mapper software. This allows users to map keys on a bluetooth controller to games that are touch based, such as Angry Birds or Asphalt 8 and such.

The Tegra Note 7 with LTE will be going on sale later this year for $299, and those not interested in LTE can purchase HP’s Slate 7 Extreme from Amazon for $185. To find out more info, and to see which of Nvidia’s partners will be selling it in your region head on over to Nvidia’s blog.
