Pebble's New App Store Launching on Monday, Feb. 3rd

Back at CES, Pebble announced their new App Store alongside their new Pebble Steel. The app store has some pretty good apps inside the app store, including Foursquare, Yelp and many others. Now that App Store is said to be launching on Monday, February 3rd. Prior to the App Store launching, there have been a ton of third-party apps available for the Pebble, but they are kind of everywhere. With the App Store launching, it’ll make it easier to find apps for your Pebble as well as clock faces.

The only downside to the app store, well more for the Pebble than the App Store, is that you are limited to only eight apps on your Pebble. That might be due to space on the Pebble, which there isn’t a whole lot. Hopefully we’ll see that change in the future, but I’m not 100% sure about that since it may lead to some lagging on the Pebble, depending on what the internals are.

Version 2 of the Pebble software should be coming pretty soon. Which sounds like it’s a pretty good update, even on the original Pebble. However it’ll probably work much better on the Pebble Steel, which looks pretty damn good. Right now the Pebble App Store is launching on iOS on Monday, but us Android users are left with “very, very soon” unfortunately. It’s pretty said to see that iOS still gets so many things first, considering Android has more than three-quarters of the market share out there. According to the Q4 2013 results, 7 out of 10 smartphones shipped were running Android. That’s a pretty big number, but then iOS still gets things like the Pebble App Store and even Facebook Paper first over Android. Doesn’t make a whole lot of sense, right?

How many of you out there picked up the Pebble Steel or a Pebble already? How  many of you are upset about the App Store not launching for Android alongside iOS? Let us know in the comments below.
