Plex For Android Gets A 50% Price Cut To $2.49

Those who have been looking for a decent media streaming option from their computer to their android devices might want to take another look at Plex for Android. The app from Plex just got a 50% price cut, so it’s even more of a deal then before. Normally the app costs $4.99, and the app was easily worth it then, but now it’s down to a mere $2.49, allowing you to pair the app with the free Plex media Server program that you download and install on your computer, which you can use to stream any of your local media to whatever Android device you have the app installed on. This is a great way to avoid having to actually store the local media right on your device, as you can stream it instead, keeping your storage space free for other important things like other apps, files and documents, and games of course.

Plex For Android is great if you just want to stream media to your tablet, but if you want to fling the videos or music over to your TV, well then you’ll need a couple things for that. First you’ll want the Chromecast device, and then you’ll need a “Plex Pass” subscription to get the Chromecast streaming support for the app. Right now, since it’s an early access feature, Chromecast support for Plex is limited to those who have the Plex Pass, although it will open up to people without the subscriptions later on. There is no mention of when, but it will eventually show up for those users. Until then, if you want to jump right in and enjoy the combination of Plex and Chromecast together on your big screen, you can sign up for one of the Plex Passes, and choose either the monthly option which costs $3.99, the Annual option which costs $29.99, or the lifetime option which costs $74.99.

If you’re planning on using Plex quite a bit, or at least for the next few years as your media streaming option between devices in your home, then the Lifetime option Plex Pass is the best value, but if you want to try before you make that huge commitment you can do the monthly first, and switch to the lifetime afterwards. The lifetime option should be around for a little while, but it was listed as a limited time offer when the Chromecast Plex support started, so make sure not to wait too long. Plex is great for all your media streaming options if you download all your movies and tv shows, or already have an existing full library of media that you want to be able to access more easily across devices. It’s simple to use and has a great interface, and you can even easily share your media with friends and family. If you want to grab the Plex For Android while it’s half off, you can grab the app from the Play Store.http://youtu.be/I2Wl33pBsi8
