If you’re one of the fortunate Souls(or perhaps unfortunate depending on how you look at it) to have downloaded and gotten to try your hand at Flappy Bird, then chances are you know how insanely difficult it can be at times. Ok, all the time. When it comes right down to it though, it’s like anything else. practice makes perfect. Practice, practice, practice. The reality is though we know that many won’t have nor care to have the patience to practice a little with a game like Flappy Bird to get to that sought after high score. This is more or less geared towards you folks. This is going to teach you how to hack the high score on Flappy Bird so you can impress your friends or gain those bragging rights. They don’t have to know how you achieved it, but if it’s something completely unbelievable they might not buy it. So if you want this to work going overboard with the score is not recommended, otherwise there’s point in doing this if you can’t at least provide the illusion that you got the score yourself. Normally, I personally wouldn’t condone this at all given that I consider myself a huge gamer and I personally appreciate the rewarding feeling of earning the high score myself, but considering the game was pulled down and were simply talking about “Falppy Bird”, no harm no foul right?
First off you’ll need to have two things. A rooted phone, and you’ll have to have Flappy Bird installed. Seeing as how the game is no longer on the Play Store, you can’t grab it from there so you have to find it through other avenues. You can grab it from here at the download link that was kindly provided by some fine fellow at XDA, or you can probably find a friend who can share the apk with you. If you had previously had it installed, you should still be able to grab it from the “my apps” page inside the Play Store. At the time of this publication, I can confirm that I was able to go back to the “my apps” page in the Play Store and re-download it to my own Nexus 7. Once you have the game installed, next step is to acquire ES file explorer. Before anything else, you’ll have to open and play Flappy Bird at least one time. Got that over with? Good. Now go to your recent apps button, tap on it, and close Flappy Bird completely.Open ES, and if you don’t already have the Root Explorer option toggled on, then you’ll need to do that next. To access it, tap the button in the top left hand corner of the app to get to the menu, and navigate to tools which is where you’ll find the root explorer option. Now navigate back to the local line in the menu and tap on /device. Once inside here you’re looking for the /data folder. Tap on it. Navigate to and tap on the /data folder again. Once inside you’re looking for the folder named com.dotgears.flappy and tap on that. Open the shared_prefs folder, and then finally open the FlappyBird.xml file with “ES Note Editor”. find and edit the line that looks like this, <int name=”score” value =”your_shitty_score” /> the part you want to edit is the part that says (your shitty score), and just replace those words with whatever score value you wish to have. Remember if you’re trying to fool your friends who are addicted to this game and cant seem to get past 12, make it believable at least. Once you have done that, if you re-open Flappy Bird and play the game until you lose again, you’ll notice the high score has changed. Finally, and this is the most important step, delete this game forever and say goodbye, and you’ll gain a piece back of your soul for never having to open it again.
