By now, this is not going to surprise any of our dear readers at all, but Samsung and Apple are all but confirmed to appear once again in court together. Despite the fact that today is February the 14th, AKA Valentine’s Day, we doubt there have been any pleasantries exchanged between the two companies. In fact, a complete lack of communication is what’s about to have them head back to court together again. According to reports coming from Korean media – have your salt shakers ready – the two parties have once again failed to settle things outside of court, and will headed back to battle with their respective well-paid lawyer teams.
Apparently, both Tim Cook and JK Shin sat down together some time last week in order to come to some sort of agreement, and well unsurprisingly, the talks went nowhere. This isn’t unusual however, as first-round talks often don’t go very far, but it already looks like Samsung has had enough and will leave it up to the courts to decide. There’s a deadline of mediation of February 19th but Korean media outlet Chosun is reporting that Shin has no plans to head back to the States, leading us to believe that there will be no further talks between the two parties.
Apple’s latest CEO, Tim Cook, apparently had a distaste for such large-scale litigation and court room antics, but that hasn’t stopped him going after Samsung. Still, it’s not as if Samsung’s hands are completely clean in the matter and perhaps if they were a little more forthcoming in meetings we wouldn’t be seeing them in the court room once again. No matter what though, this sort of thing will continue until there’s some sort of wide reform concerning technology patents and how they are enforced. That’s incredibly unlikely to happen any time soon, but we can all hope, right?
