Samsung And Budget Devices; Is The SM-G310 The First One With Kit Kat?

Ever since the release of Android 4.4 kit kat, we’ve heard all sorts of stuff about the version of the OS supporting low end phones with less then desirable memory. One of the beauties behind Kit Kat is the boasted possibility that it’s optimized for low memory phones. One of the bigger issues with Android devices has always been fragmentation, and the wide amount of devices out there with varied versions of the OS, making it more difficult for manufacturers not only to send out updates, but for developers to provide better compatibility with apps, as well as updates to all users. While Samsung has at least one or two devices already having been updated to Kit Kat, we might be hearing about their first budget device(more than likely with low memory)that could be running Android 4.4 kit kat out of the box.

The phone is called the SM-G310 and testing has begun for the device in India today. The information about the phones shipping details has been listed up on the web at a site called Zauba, with details specifically listed about the phones screen size at just under 4-inches. (3.97 exactly) There were also some specs leaked about what’s under the hood of the device by someone who seems to be a tipster, with the specs being leaked via tweet. The SM-G310 is allegedly powered by an ARM Cortex A9 dual-core processor clocked at 1.2GHz, and will supossedly have single and dual SIM options of the device. Other details about the specs include the resolution for the device which is said to be 480×800, and a Broadcom BCM2763 VideoCore IV.

So far this seems to be the only information regarding this low-end device for Samsung. Perhaps we’ll hear more about it when Mobile World Congress starts up next week. It’s important to remember that this information is just a set of leaks, and with no official announcements or word from Samsung on this potentially first Kit Kat powered budget device from them, we should take it all with a grain of salt. More details on the matter will most likely surface in the coming week or two.
