It seems as if we are in the thick of the rumor season for the Galaxy S5. We already have a date for the event, which is February 24th, at 8pm CET (which translates to about 1pm ET and 11am PT). Now we’re learning more and more about what to expect. The New York Times has already confirmed that the Galaxy S5 will be announced at Unpacked, but then again did we really expect anything different?
Additionally, The New York Times is reporting that the Galaxy S5 will not have the QHD Display we had been hearing about for quite a while. That means no 2560×1440 resolution display. They are also reporting that it won’t have the iris scanner, which some of us see as a good thing. It appears that the Galaxy S5 will instead come with a faster processor, a better camera and some subtle design tweaks, which is being reported by someone that has been briefed on the matter of the Galaxy S5.
On the good side though, It looks like the Galaxy S4 event won’t be happening again this year. We won’t be getting a huge broadway-type show again this year. It looks like we’ll still have a nice low-key event, which will be livestreamed, to announce the Galaxy S5. Which considering how much everyone complained about last years event – especially the ones that had to sit through the entire thing – it sounds like a good idea.
We’re also expecting a revamped Touchwiz to make an appearance on the Galaxy S5 later this month. Which we’ve been seeing leak out over the past number of weeks, which I’m actually liking the new design so far. I’ll have to wait until the event before I can say I definitely do or don’t like it though. How many of you are excited for the Galaxy S5 event at Mobile World Congress on February 24th?
