ZDNet Korea mentioned this morning that Samsung has “secured the biggest booth at the event”, talking about Mobile World Congress. Now this isn’t really a surprise. If you’ve ever been to CES, you’ll know that their booth is huge. In fact, a lot of us refer to it as ‘Samsung City’. It’s just that big. We’re looking forward to having both LG and Samsung clash at Mobile World Congress next week, as they are both announcing flagships, but in different product areas. Samsung in the normal sized phone area, and LG with the phablet and mini-phone areas. Samsung is also said to be announcing the Galaxy Gear 2 and Galaxy Tab 4 lineup alongside the Galaxy S5 next week.
It’s being reported that Samsung officials have told ZDNet Korea, that the company plans to show that it can “breakthrough the current limits of the smartphone market and still wow customers.” JK Shin, who is the head of the mobile division at Samsung, will personally present the Galaxy S5 at Mobile World Congress next week. Which that shouldn’t be a surprise since he almost always unveils the new flagship, even if they have someone else go over all the features and such.
From what we’re being told, the Galaxy S5 is going to have a 5.25-inch display, either 1080p or 2K/QHD. Along with a 16MP rear-facing camera, 3GB of RAM, Fingerprint reader, 3200mAh battery, and run Android 4.4.2. Which the part about it running Android 4.4.2 – KitKat isn’t really surprising since the LG G Pro 2 is running it and so are their low-end LG L90, L70, and L40 devices. As well as Samsung’s Galaxy TabPRO and NotePRO tablets they announced at CES last month.
Next Monday, February 24th, is going to be a crazy day. There will be plenty of flagships announced, which we will want to get our hands on. We’re expecting a few devices from Samsung, LG, Huawei, not to mention some from Sony and ZTE. It’s going to be fun, come next week. So stay tuned to Android Headlines.
