We talked about Sony’s new devices yesterday with their announcements for the Sony Xperia Z2 and the Sony Xperia Tablet Z2, and we went over a host of features that Sony has brought to the table with both devices. Among everything that the Xperia Z2 and Tablet Z2 have, some things stood out to us, like the return of the water and dust proof design making the devices extremely usable in the elements. Of course the live colour LED display is nice and we can’t wait to see what it looks like first hand, and some of the camera features sound like they’ll provide some interesting moments through video and photos. What piqued our interest the most though was the Digital Noise Cancellation that Sony has built into the phone and the tablet. This time around, Sony had their engineers integrate the digital noise cancelling software into the devices themselves, as opposed to providing us with a set of headphones that attempt to do the job.
The digital noise cancellation is something that is extremely important if you value the best quality sound of your audio. No matter what the sound is whether it be music, the audio for a movie, or a game, Sony understands that people have busy lives and many times they listen to their favorite tracks or engage their favorite content while in busy places. For example, on public transit. Having lived in the major metropolitan area of Portland here in the northwest for some years, public transit was a major form of transportation for me as it was easier to get around and quicker most times then driving a vehicle. The tough thing was that transit can be noisy and make it difficult to hear whatever you’re listening to. Sony points out in one of there hands on videos about the Digital Noise Cancellation that you can usually only get this quality of noise cancelling in big bulky headphones. Now with the Xperia Z2 and Tablet Z2’s built in digital noise cancellation, they were able to provide users with an unparalleled experience while using earphones that don’t have to do the hard work. Sony says that by taking the job of cancelling out background noises away from the earphones, the results sound better and are higher quality, and it enabled the earphones to work without a battery inside them. The audio quality is apparently pretty great, and we certainly can’t wait to test them out.
