There are going to be plenty of Olympic apps out there for when the Winter Games officially kick off later this month. For instance, Samsung even has one (which they finally opened up to more than just Samsung devices). But if you want the best experience, you’ll want to check out the NBC Olympic app.
The new NBC Olympics Highlights allows you to experience the best of the Winter games this year and see highlights as well as results from the games. You can get prepared for the games now by checking out news, videos, photos and more for each sport. This can all be done from your smartphone or tablet. Once the games kick off, you can follow every event from London, including real-time results and schedules, medal counts, and TV & Online listings. Also, during the Primetime show on NBC every night, the app will act as a second screen experience, making watching the games during primetime that much better.
It appears that NBC has made the app only available to those in the US and US Territories. And obviously it requires a data connection to use, as you’re pulling down data. The app actually looks pretty nice. It appears to be using the Android design guidelines, which always makes us happy. This is a brand new app, so it’s not the same one that NBC has used in the past, like for the 2012 Summer Games. It’s actually a pretty large app weighing in at about 17MB in size. It’s compatible with Android 2.3 and up, so that means mostly everyone with an Android device will be able to use the app.
