T-Mobile HTC One Getting KitKat This Week, AT&T This Month

When KitKat was announced back in October, HTC had put a self-imposed deadline of 90 days for the KitKat update for the HTC One. While they missed it slightly for the Sprint HTC One, they did get the international and unlocked versions updates out before the 90-day deadline. Now we’re waiting on T-Mobile and AT&T’s updates which should be rolling out in the next week or so.

Lately, we’ve been seeing HTC America’s President Jason Mackenzie on Twitter telling customers when updates are coming and such. And he’s done that again this time. Jason has stated that the T-Mobile HTC One update should be coming out this week, while AT&T’s update is “Likely last week of Feb”. So if you’re using either the AT&T or the T-Mobile model, you should be seeing KitKat very soon. As far as Verizon goes, there’s no information on that so far. But then again, Verizon is usually pretty slow with pushing out updates.

The update includes Android 4.4.2 which doesn’t bring a whole lot of new things to the table. But you will get immersive mode and a few other features that are part of Android 4.4 – KitKat. Since Sense 5.5 should have been pushed out with the Android 4.3 update, there shouldn’t be an update to Sense, other than some minor bug fixes and performance enhancements. But it still puts you on the latest version of Android, which is kind of a big deal

You may also want to keep an eye on HTC’s Software Update page, to see if an update is available for your device. You can also head into Settings, tap on About Phone and then Check for Updates, to see if it’s available. Hopefully we’ll see the update very soon. If you get the KitKat update on your HTC One, be sure to let us know how you are liking it in the comments below.
