T-Mobile Moto X Soak Test Rolling Out, Build 161.44.25 – Android 4.4.2

Just last week we had heard that Motorola was starting a soak test for the T-Mobile version of the Moto X. Which normally gets updates first because it is an unlocked phone, more or less. Today, it looks like that update has finally started rolling out to those in the soak test. It appears to be build 161.44.25 which is also Android 4.4.2. That means that while it’s not a huge update, it is big enough to be needed. As there were plenty of issues with Android 4.4, with the main one being battery life. Where Android OS was eating up more than half of the battery.

The update is also supposed to bring some changes to Printing documents and pictures, as well as fixing email sync delays. So a pretty minor update, and if everything goes well we should see it rolling out to the T-Mobile Moto X in the next few days. Then Motorola should be working on the AT&T, Sprint, Verizon and US Cellular versions of the Moto X. Which the US Cellular version was supposed to go live today or tomorrow, so that may come before the rest.

So this update is just mainly bug fixes, but it’s the update that us Moto X fans have been waiting for, for quite a while now, as battery life has been getting worse and worse lately. Albeit still possible to last a full work day, just not the 24 hours we were getting on Android 4.2.2.

For those of you in the soak test, be sure to let us know in the comments below how the update is working out for you and if you’re experiencing any issues. For the rest of you, we should see the update very soon. And as always, we’ll keep you up to date with it.
