Customers in the U.S. have enjoyed the Google Chromecast experience since July 2013 when it was offered up at only $35 along with a nice perk – FREE Netflix downloads for three months ($7.99) – and was sold out in a matter of a few days. It was so popular that Google had to rescind the Netflix offer, but fortunately, not before I received mine! I was able to purchase the HDMI Dongle for only about $11 ($35 – (3 x $7.99)) and I have enjoyed it ever since. Sorry, not trying to rub it in our Canadian friends face, just pointing out the it has been around for several months, but still only available in the U.S.
Right now the device is still only officially available in the U.S., however, there have been rumors that Google is planning big things for Chromecast in 2014 – an international release. The demand was so great in the U.S. it took them two or three months to get production up to where they could fill all of the orders.
We do know that they have been refining it to get it ready before they ship it out to the rest of the world. They are also investigating into a custom experience for other markets – in other words, what programming or special need would give it that “WOW” factor to make someone in say, Europe, to purchase a Chromecast.
For our Canadian readers, we are happy to report that TeamBuy.ca is offering the Google Chromecast for $39, including taxes, on-line right now. Shipping time is listed at two weeks and shipping and handling will add $12, making your total cost to purchase Chromecast at $51. They list the sale as final and non-returnable and there is no limit on the number that you can order.
For TeamBuy’s description they are calling it a “Google Chromecast HDMI Streaming Media Player.” Its features are listed as – Stream online video, music and more to your TV using your smartphone, tablet, or laptop – Box includes Chromecast, HDMI extender, USB power cable, and power adapter – Easy setup: plug into any HDTV and connect to your home Wi-Fi network – Works with Android, iOS, Chrome for Mac, and Chrome for Windows.
Please let us know on our Google+ Page if you are interested in purchasing Google’s Chromecast – it is quite a bargain for what it allows you to do – even “casting” from your smartphone or laptop makes it worth the money
