When Sony released the Xperia Tablet Z onto the world last year, they delivered a device that only looked good, but featured a healthy balance of specs. It wasn’t the 2560 x 1600 device we were all hoping for, but instead came with a Snapdragon S4 Pro and 2GB of RAM, specs that still hold up fairly well today. Still though, it was fairly expensive compared to other devices and while its water-resistance was great for a lot of people the display just didn’t cut it for some. If the display didn’t bother you about last year’s device, and you’re fine with the very nice resolution of 1920 x 1200 then the leaked specs for this year’s Xperia Tablet Z 2 will excite you somewhat.
The infamous @evleaks has once again gotten his hands on what he believes to be the next big thing. Leaked specs for Sony’s upcoming tablet include the same 1920 x 1200 display resolution of a TriLuminos display as well as a Snapdragon 800 and 3GB of RAM. That’s a lot of horsepower for a tablet, and puts in right in line with Samsung’s Galaxy Tab Pro line, at least in the processor department, anyway. The resolution might not be able to compete with Samsung’s latest tablets, but at just 6.4mm thick with water-resistance, we’re pretty sure that Sony’s latest won’t have any trouble enticing new buyers. Other specs 16GB of storage with a microSD card slot, Android 4.4 KitKat and a 6,000 mAh battery which should last a long time, indeed.
Of course, as with the Galaxy Tab Pro line from Samsung, all of the specs in the world won’t matter for much if nobody is willing to pay for it. No matter how good Samsung’s latest slates are, for a lot of people they’re simply too expensive. If Sony are going to announce another high-quality tablet, we hope that they don’t get too carried away with the pricing. After all, there’s no point in making a piece of hardware people consider too expensive.
