Verizon Moto X Users Finally getting Android 4.4.2

After a quick soak test, it appears that Motorola is pushing out the Android 4.4.2 update to the Moto X to Verizon users. The update is pretty small, as expected since you’re going from Android 4.4 to 4.4.2. But it does fix a few bugs which were needed. The big issue was battery life. With Android 4.4, a lot of Moto X users noticed the Android OS eating up the battery a lot more than usual. Well that is said to be fixed in the Android 4.4.2 update, which is great to see.

Motorola’s SVP of Software Product Management, David Schuster, confirmed that the Android 4.4.2 update is rolling out to the Verizon Moto X right now. The software is version 164.55.2, and includes a few enhancements. These enhancements include security and stability, improved phone dialer application performance, improved syncing of email attachments, enhanced on-device security, roaming improved connectivity when roaming, improvements, battery life improvements, Isis mobile wallet enhancements, Latest version of apps now available, VZ Tones, and VZ Navigator.

So there is quite a long changelog, although most of these are bug fixes, so it’s nice to see Motorola fixing the bugs on their Moto X. We heard from Motorola yesterday that they are bringing the Moto X over to India and Australia in a few weeks, as well as bringing MotoMaker to Western Europe and Mexico next quarter. So we might see some pretty big things from Motorola this year, especially in the second half with the new Moto X and their smartwatch, hopefully it’s way better than the MOTOACTV was.

Verizon Moto X users, go and grab your update. Also, be sure to let us know how the update is working out for you in the comments below. As always, we’re interested to see what everyone thinks about the update.
