ZTE G601U Gets Certified in China; Built for Those Who Need a Sturdy Smartphone
An upcoming rugged smartphone from ZTE has been spotted going though the TENAA in China and as you might expect, it doesn’t bring with it a whole lot of great specs. With a 4-inch 800 x 480 display and a dual-core 1.3 Ghz CPU, with 1GB of RAM, there’s not too much on offer here. However, as you can see from the photo above this is going to be a device for those that really need something to last while at work or something like that. Hopefully, this offering from ZTE won’t be too expensive and, unlike other rugged phones won’t come with an outdated version of Android.
Intex Aqua Curve Launches in India
Intex has launched their new Aqua Curve device in India, with a 5-inch display, an 8-megapixel camera and more powered by the MediaTex MT6582 CPU. The display resolution is disappointing at just 960 x 540, and the device is going to cost RS 12,490 which isn’t too bad a deal. Intex’s latest is running on Android 4.2.2 and the display is built using one-glass technology. This might not be the best ut there, but for the price it’s not too bad at all.
Sony Xperia E1 Goes Up for Pre-Order in the UK and Germany
There’s something to be said for the Xperia E1, which doesn’t offer too much in the way of specs, but does offer some pretty good value for money. With a loud speaker on the device that’s great for music and a compact size, there’s some charm yet to this budget-minded handset. The device has now gone up for pre-order in the UK and Germany on Amazon, for £149.99 and €139.99, respectively. That’s not a bad price, especially when you consider that this is a completely unlocked handset, however for not too much more you could get the Moto G.
Gionee’s 5.7-inch GPad G4 is Now Available in India
Gionee’s latest large screened device is now available in India for RS 18,999 and it’s packing a lot in it for that sort of price. Wrapped in an aluminum casing that looks an awful lot like the LG G Pad, the GPad 4 comes with a 5.7-inch 1280 x 720 display, the MediaTek mT6589T, 13 and 5-megapixel front and rear-facing cameras and 1GB of RAM. With 16GB of storage onboard, with Dolby sound software installed, this might be a good device for media consumption and the 3,200 mAh should last the distance.
Huawei’s Latest 7-inch Tablet, the MediaPad X1 Appears Online
Huawei have been making Android tablets for some time now, and while the vast majority of them haven’t been all that good, the MediaPad X1 might be the one to turn things around. Coming with a Full HD 7-inch Display, 2GB of RAM and 32GB of storage it looks like a good device. However, the quad-core Cortex A9 CPU might put it behind other processors. There’s now word yet on whether this will be given an International release or not, but we expect a release in Asia some time soon.

Galaxy Gear Gets Another Price Cut in India
Samsung’s first smartwatch, the Galaxy Gear has been given another price cut in India, bring the price down to RS 14,999, which makes the Gear not that expensive. At least compared to its launch price of almost RS 23,000. We reviewed the Galaxy Gear and liked it however, it doesn’t handle notifications all that well and it’s not the most practical device. Still, if you have a Samsung device running Android 4.3, then this could be the smartwatch for you.
